Waterwell Drama Program students Sydney Lucas (TA ’17) and Oscar Williams (TA ’17) recently opened Fun Home at the Circle in the Square Theater.
Fun Home introduces us to Alison Bechdel at three different ages, revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family – her mother, brothers and volatile, brilliant, enigmatic father – that connect with her in surprising new ways. This intimate and emotional theatrical experience is performed entirely in the round, bringing audiences closer to Alison’s story than ever before.
”The audience becomes, more than ever, part of the Bechdel family circle. For better or worse — and for me shows this cathartic are only for the better — we’re home.”
New York theater’s critics, starting with The New York Times, raved about the excellence of the show, singling out “the incomparable Sydney Lucas”. Congrats to Sydney and Oscar on their amazing Broadway debuts!
