Amara James Aja

Amara James Aja (he/him/his) is a New York City based actor and teaching artist. A latecomer to the theatrical profession, he received his B.A. in Government from Cornell University before going on to receive his MFA from the University of San Diego/ Old Globe Theatre. As a teacher and performer, he is interested in exploring the continued relevance of Shakespeare and classical performance to the contemporary theatre. Amara is a proud Nigerian-American and a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association.  #nodeycarrylast

Amara’s credits include: Madam Secretary (CBS), The White Devil (Red Bull Theatre), Tender Napalm (HERE Arts Center), The Tempest in concert (Oregon Symphony), Peter and the Starcatcher (Argyle Theatre), In the Heat of the Night (Barter Theatre), and The Blameless (The Old Globe).
