Irene Lazaridis is an Astoria-born, bred, and based director, deviser, and producer of theater and film.
Her New York directing credits include As We Let Go (The Baumann), Inherit the Wind (PPAS/Waterwell), The Cult Play (The Paradise Factory), Lola (Playwrights Downtown), Reindeer Games (Playwrights Downtown), Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (NYU/Tisch), The Dance of Zalongo (Robert Moss Theater), Jean Anouilh’s Antigone (The Tank), Sinking Bloom (The Access Theater), Trojan Women: A Love Story (Stella Adler Studio) and staged readings of Take Care (The Baumann), As We Let Go (Shetler Studios) and Hashtag: #Rohwer – Arkansas Relocation Camp – Woohoo (Atlantic Stages 2).
Irene has been assistant director to Mikhael Tara Garver on several projects, including Smile (Manhattan School of Music), Postnation (New Stages Festival, Goodman Theatre), Spare Rib (Judson Memorial Church), Revolutionary Lovewith the Kristin Sudeikis Dance Company (BAM), and the Museum of Drug Policy in New York and Montreal. She also assisted Tom Ridgely on Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s Romeo and Juliet.
Irene is an associate artist at MTG Experiences, the Education Associate at Waterwell, and a guest director and mentor at the Playwrights Horizons Theater School. She is also the co-founder of Make/Shift, which runs Working Titles, a monthly gathering of makers, and recently produced As We Let Go and the all-female art event, SHE Creates. She received her BFA at NYU Tisch where she studied at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Playwrights Horizons Theatre School.
