Hailed as having an “elastic and luxurious” voice (Ars Raving Mad), Bronx-born Mezzo-Soprano Linda Collazo has performed with prestigious opera companies including Sarasota Opera, Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance, Vertical Player Repertory Theater, The Met Opera Guild, and the Mimesis Ensemble and has performed at famous venues including Carnegie Hall, The United Palace Theater, The United Nations, and Lincoln Center. Linda is the winner of the Woodmere and Bronx Arts Ensemble Young Artist Competitions and of an encouragement award from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. When she is not performing, Linda enjoys teaching and holds teaching artist positions at The Point C.D.C. in the Bronx and at the Waterwell Drama Program at the Professional Performing Arts Middle School. Linda also holds her own private teaching studio in her home in the South Bronx, teaching both piano and voice to all ages. Linda was a voice major at the “Fame” high school known as Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. She later received a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the CUNY Macaulay Honors College at Queens College and the Aaron Copland School of Music.
