In distant space, the robot crew of the S.S. Crouton races through the galaxy to find the last living earthling. She is the only being who still remembers life on Earth, and only her wisdom can save life in the universe from the space storm threatening its surefire death. As the crew navigates robot politics and robot love to stay on course, it becomes clear that things on the S.S. Crouton are not as they seem… This timely new comedy from Eliza Bent explores climate change, racism, and the many ways the two intersect. The S.S. Crouton and Other Tales is commissioned and produced as part of Waterwell’s New Works Lab at the Professional Performing Arts School, a program stimulating the creation of thematically rich, complex new plays for young artists.
